Specifically, the Government of the Canary Islands will transfer 650,000 euros to the Consistory, which will contribute the remainder (462,189.46 euros) and will process the contracting files necessary for the bidding and awarding of the works.
This is stated in the agreement, published yesterday in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), and in which it is noted that a joint monitoring commission will be created whose functions will be to resolve any questions that may be raised by the interpretation and compliance of this agreement. The mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, valued that “it is a very important intervention”. “It is one of the few educational centers in the municipality that still did not have its covered sports facilities and we had the obligation to meet this demand, which has been possible thanks to the work of the Department of Works and Infrastructure, with the collaboration of the Education area. “, he claimed.
“At the same time, the collaboration agreement with the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands has been essential to be able to finance this intervention -added the local councilor-, which comes to settle another of the pending accounts of this municipality. We will start the bidding process as a matter of urgency so that the roofing of the field becomes a reality as soon as possible”.
The project to be executed was drafted by the Ministry of Education during the past 2021 and the works have an estimated term of nine months.

Likewise, from the municipal area of Works and Infrastructures they also reported that the next agreement to be signed will be that of the CEIP Las Mercedes, whose project is finishing upgrading the Cabildo and that it is expected to be able to sign in about three months.
From the area they recalled that before being able to execute this project it is necessary to carry out the works to channel the La Triciada ravine, as it passes through the CEIP Las Mercedes, which was awarded last November and which will focus on making a new access and in channeling the runoff, which will allow the works to be carried out in the sports center, for which heavy machinery is needed that right now cannot pass through the current access road.
