The Cabildo improves the professional training of almost 4,000 people

Nearly 4,000 people participated in the courses and training actions taught by him Council of Tenerife through the area of ​​Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, during 2021.

The councilor of the area, Carmen Luz Baso, explained that it is about free training aimed mainly at unemployed people, but also to entrepreneurs, which were managed by the Insular Foundation for Training, Employment and Business Development (FIFEDE).

Thus, the project with which the most people were trained in 2021 was Neighborhoods for Employment, which has the participation of Cáritas Diocesana, Red Cross, Don Bosco Salesianos Social, the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna and Sinpromi.

In total, 2,500 people who participated in this program received training related especially to the areas of hospitality, customer service, computers, cooking and gardening.

At the same time, almost 900 people took some of the online courses that the Cabildo has made available to island residents through the training platform launched during the pandemic.

For its part, open to both the unemployed and the rest of the island’s workers, the list of most requested courses within this platform includes basic and advanced English, handling of various computer programs (word, Excel), accounting analysis, human resources, fiscal and labor management for small businesses or micro-enterprises, recruitment and selection of personnel, evacuation and emergency plans, attention and customer loyalty and protocol.

Meanwhile, for the first time in 2021, intensive training in programming was launched, which allowed 20 unemployed people with no prior computer knowledge to be able to make mobile applications or video games in a few months.

Other training actions given to the unemployed focused on environmental management, personal skills for employment, job guidance, digital marketing or professional transition towards digitalization, while 69 participants were part of the Employment Launches launched in Garachico, Adeje and La Victory.

Finally, regarding entrepreneurs, one of the most demanded training courses is the online Business Creation course, which provides a series of theoretical and practical knowledge to properly create and manage the company. At the same time, other actions related to entrepreneurial resilience for times of change and cybersecurity for small businesses stand out.
