The mayor of Los Llanos de Aridane (La Palma), Noelia García Leal, will chair the table of the 15th Congress of the Popular Party of the Canary Islands, which will take place on January 22 and 23 in Tenerife. The party explained yesterday that it is a decision adopted during the meeting held on Wednesday by the Organizing Committee of the popular conclave, chaired by the deputy Perez Helper.
The proposal is completed with Oscar Mata Izquierdo as vice president of the table, Carla Guerrero Gómez as secretary of Congress; and Dunia Álvaro Soler and Jeziel Martín Arrocha, in the functions of vocals. In the opening ceremony, which will be chaired by the Organizing Committee, this composition will be proposed to the plenary, which must be ratified by a simple majority of the delegates. Among the functions of the table is to monitor compliance with the regulations of the Congress, direct the session and moderate the debates. During the congress, the paper Treatment for a dying economy will be presented, which will expose Gustavo González de Vera and Carlos Ester Sánchez.
García Leal has a degree in psychology and is a primary school counselor. She has been a deputy in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, director of the Canary Islands Women’s Institute and coordinator of the Emergency Device forto Assaulted Women (DEMA). Since 2011 she has been mayor of the municipality of Los Llanos de Aridane.
