The Municipal Group of the Canarian-PNC Coalition in the Puerto de la Cruz City Council regrets that the Puerto de la Cruz Government, made up of PSOE and ACP, rejected the social amendments proposed by the nationalists, for a total value of two million euros, and censorship that «The expenditure planned for 2022 in Culture is twice the budget of Social Services: 12.6% of the total compared to 6.3%. An expense in Culture that is also 16 times greater than the Employment item ».
The CC-PNC spokeswoman in the tourist city, Sandra Rodríguez, considers that the new accounts “turn their backs on citizens”, and make it clear that “this government’s priority is events and not people, since despite that they continue to insist that they are a social government, they allocate half of what they dedicate to cultural policies to social policies».
Sandra Rodríguez criticizes that «of the budget for the year 2021 only the items for Festivals and Culture have been exhausted, while they have not been able to execute the social items, despite the serious crisis we are going through as a result of the pandemic. PSOE and ACP did not execute 40% of the 2021 budget planned for Social Services, which only represented 6.3% of the total.
«We have presented almost two million euros in amendments, all rejected by PSOE and ACP, which were intended for direct aid to sectors such as fishing, taxis or Municipal Market merchants; attention to vulnerable families and students, or specific proposals such as the social IBI, aid for the payment of the solid waste collection rate, the fight against the digital divide, the implementation of a municipal employment plan or the it helps young entrepreneurs”, details the former mayor. In addition, CC-PNC recalls that “we also unsuccessfully proposed the drafting and execution of asphalting projects for deteriorated roads in the city such as Nueva, Dácil or Sor Pura streets, or the El Santísimo urbanization, among others.”
