The Popular Party of Puerto de la Cruz regrets that the municipality is in the queue in the tourist recovery in Tenerife and insists on demanding a specific marketing plan to relaunch the sector in the city. For the local president of the PP, Ángel Montañés, “it is unfortunate that we have to find out about such negative data on the tourist situation of our municipality through the newspaper EL DÍA, due to the lack of transparency of the municipal government of the socialist Marco Gonzalez”.
The Municipal Group of the PP stresses that they have tried without success “to know the data and tourist forecasts during these two years and seven months of government of PSOE and Portuense Citizen Assembly, but, through questions made in plenary sessions and informative commissions, we have never been given a single specific piece of information and much less any concrete action to correct bad situations or prospects ”.
“The direct contact that our party has with the tourism sector of the Cross port it has allowed us to feel the reality of these last months and we knew that the triumphalism that both the mayor and the two city councilors of tourism have openly boasted of was far removed, who have even gone so far as to speak publicly about the success of the economic recovery of the city, ”criticizes Montañés.
“For our party, the development of actions aimed at promoting our destination at origin has always been a priority, and this is what we have expressed throughout this mandate”, underlines the president of the popular portuenses, who adds that they have demanded “a concrete professional and political effort to fill our city with both regional and national tourists, as well as from those countries that did allow their inhabitants to travel. We have also asked for a specific marketing plan in which the characteristics of Cross port”.
The PP insists on maintaining that “to the mayor”, Marco González (PSOE), “He has only been interested in spending hundreds of thousands of euros on recreational-festive actions directed almost exclusively to the local population, without any type of tourist and economic return.”
From the Popular Party they consider “not very serious that, even with just ten days to go before an international tourist fair is to be held, the Tourism Sector Council has been urgently convened to design the actions to be carried out there.”
“Although the situation at the international level is quite complicated”, for the Popular Party of Puerto de la Cruz “Being at the bottom in tourist figures is partly a consequence of this drift in which they are PSOE and ACP in the municipality, without a tourist or city model ”.
