SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canary Islands have resumed face-to-face classes after the Christmas holidays with 883 teachers positive for coronavirus, which represents 2.8% of the total staff of the archipelago, made up of 31,265 teachers.
According to data from the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands collected by Europa Press and which refer to the day of this Monday, the positives for coronavirus affect a total of 2,717 students, 0.8% of the students of the islands, who total 337,810 students.
Faced with this situation, the ANPE teachers union has requested this Tuesday to improve the tracking of contagions, prioritize the third dose vaccination for teachers, increase the covid staff to be able to attend to students, have a telephone service for manage teacher absences, carry out vaccination of minors between 5 and 11 years old only in sanitary facilities authorized to do so and guarantee electronic devices in case of confinement, among other initiatives.
