The controversy with a position as a police officer in Arafo now extends to economic spending. GIVES

The Stap Canarias union, through its union section in the Arafo City Council, denounces that the Consistory, in the stage of José Juan Lemes as mayor, spent an amount that exceeds 12,000 euros (this figure could be increased even more if this is allowed in any other lawsuit of a different nature) in lawsuits and lawyers, even a notary, to defend the “indefensible” in the various disputes that were conducted against the entity for the illegal position and subsequent appointment, also illegal, to an agent as an officer.

With this, it was intended to displace the true chief officer of the Corps due to personal disagreements and enmities with some political leaders, specifically, with the previous mayor. All this with firm judgments issued by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands and favorable to this union, judgments collected by DIARIO DE AVISOS. The union denounces that “that amount of money is such that in a municipality with a budget limited by its size and population characteristics such as Arafo’s, it could have generated important aid for other needs with social purposes for its neighbors and not have wasted it. from the public purse due to the irresponsibility of its councilors, once again making it clear that when they do not pay it out of their pocket it matters little if that money leaves the public coffers and is lost ”.

The municipal intervention report requested by the Stap Canarias union shows that most of this money has been paid to a prestigious law firm. The fact is that the Arafo City Council could have resorted, for example, to the representation of the lawyers of the Cabildo’s legal office at zero cost, as other administrations tend to do, they point out from the union. “This shows that the negligent, capricious and arbitrary decisions of certain administrations and politicians that protect and that entail illegality do not find the reproach or the action of responsibility that should be, resulting in a cost or waste that, due to the action and economic damage that may be, he happily gets away with very impunity ”, they indicate from Stap Canarias. The Arafo City Council, now with Juan Ramón Martín as mayor, has assumed the sentence and has withdrawn from the RPT the official position created in its day by Lemes, in addition to removing from the municipal budget the amounts to be received by the official appointed in a manner irregular.
