Six deaths and 2,584 new cases of coronavirus in the Canary Islands

Canary Islands start the week after the Christmas period with 2,584 new cases of coronavirus, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, which also informs the death of six people in the Archipelago associated with pathology.

Four of the deaths occurred in Tenerife and two in Gran Canaria. The deceased were between 59 and 83 years old. All the people were in hospital admission and had previous pathologies. One of the deceased did not have the vaccination schedule administered and another was associated with a nosocomial outbreak. The Covid-19 684 people have been killed in Tenerife since the start of the pandemic and 418 in Gran Canaria.

With these figures, the Islands reached a total of 188,301 cases since the start of the pandemic, of which 66,286 remain active epidemiological.

The Accumulated Incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands it is 1,256.28 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days in 1,816.86 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By islands, Tenerife has 886 diagnoses from Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, which implies 92,418 cases in the entire health crisis and of which 33,150 are still active.

Gran canaria It is for the second day in a row the island that registers the highest increase in positives: the 1,203 new cases bring the total number of diagnoses of the pandemic to 67,490 (23,119 still active).

While, Lanzarote accumulates 13,357 cases after 204 registered in the last 24 hours, of which 4,540 remain epidemiologically active.

In Fuerteventura, a total of 3,594 remain with the pathology after today’s 82 coronavirus diagnoses, reaching a cumulative total of 8,954.

In The Palm new cases amount to 82, bringing the total number of infections since the start of the pandemic to 4,146 (1,510 active), while in La Gomera 26 positives were registered, reaching 230 patients still with the disease.

El Hierro week begins with better data: the nine cases registered in the last 24 hours The total number of infections rises to 827 but 135 of them remain epidemiologically active.

To date, a total of 2,871,610 have been carried out diagnostic tests in the Islands, of which 7,573 correspond to yesterday.
