The city councils of the nine municipalities in the south of Tenerife (Fasnia, Arico, San Miguel, Granadilla, Vilaflor, Arona, Adeje, Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide) trust in giving a boost in 2022 to key works aimed at facilitating the mobility of citizens, improving public spaces in the areas coastal areas and reinforce its commitment to sanitation, sports, culture and the environment.

In this sense, the mayor of Arona described as “good news” that the General State Budgets this year contemplate 5 million euros for access to the pier, which in his opinion, “reinforces the strategy of the government group of make institutions and parties focus on improving the port, its entrances and exits, with the undergrounding of Chayofita avenue almost to the highway and the transfer of the current bus stop to a transport interchange on said avenue ” . In this sense, Mena highlighted the “consensus” that has been generated around the need to invest in the modernization of Los Cristianos.

From Adeje, it is recalled that the experience of the last two years recommends caution when planning large investments, because health priorities have interposed themselves in the lines of work. Its mayor, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, indicated that 2022 should be the time for the completion of the new theater in Adejero and the “social, economic and cultural” boost in the area around the premises. The councilor also advanced that an “important multifunctional stadium” is projected that will become a “hallmark”. The current government group will maintain the development of infrastructures, both in the residential and tourist areas, and these include new parking spaces. Finally, Rodríguez Fraga highlighted other projects linked to the municipality’s great green bet: the Productive Forest, a space aimed at eliminating the carbon footprint. Along these lines, he also underlined a plan for energy communities to provide the municipality with renewable energy.

But the macro-work carried out by the Government of the Canary Islands is not the only priority set by the City Council. Its mayor, Arturo González, hopes that this year the works of the Health Center in Llano del Camello, which accumulates a delay of two years, and the regeneration work of the San Salvador beach will finally be completed. Emilio Navarro (Santiago del Teide). GIVES

In addition to the progress of the works on the Insular Ring, other smaller infrastructures aimed at solving or reducing mobility problems occupy a prominent place on the new year’s agenda for Santiago del Teide. In this sense, a new parking area in Los Gigantes, in Puerto Santiago, takes a special role, and another is being studied in Tamaimo, the nucleus in which the sanitation system will be completed in 2022. At the same time, the work of the regional treatment plant is being carried out. This was stated by the mayor, Emilio Navarro, who advanced that the City Council will continue to promote parks to eliminate carbon and will maintain the commitment to renew tourist spaces and improve the towns of the upper area through ecotourism projects. Finally, he highlighted a digitalization and intelligence plan linked to tourists who visit the municipality, “because after the pandemic everything has changed.”

Damián Pérez, mayor of Fasnia, declared that, within the ‘Tenerife y el Mar’ program, the priority is to regenerate the municipality’s coastline, both in Las Eras, with the repair of the breakwater, and in Los Roques, with the improvement of the beach next to the Bahía apartments. In addition, the councilor trusts that this year the definitive impulse will be given to the remodeling of the old Fasnia cinema. “We want to convert it into a multifunctional space, which will be very important because we do not have any closed site with the capacity to accommodate a significant number of people,” said Damián Pérez, who completed the chapter on priorities with the arrangement of the old church of San Joaquín , popularly known as the “old church”. “We have had a project for years and we hope that in 2022 we can protect a site that is a symbol for Fasnia,” he said.
