The Arona City Council announces the competition to expand and reform the Local Police Security Office in Los Cristianos, some necessary work after the modification of the law on the custody of firearms, published in 2020, which made it necessary to adapt the facilities, which caused the transfer of all the troops to the helmet, “although this never meant a reduction in services that are offered in the area, “says the local government. The works, which have an execution period of four months, have a budget of 227,002 euros. Companies can submit offers until the 25th, inclusive.
With the renovation of the Los Cristianos Security Office, the Local Police will have two areas: one, the administrative one, which will have offices, toilets, changing rooms, an office and a gunsmith; the second corresponds to the parking lots for official vehicles and an area to deposit lost objects.
This renovation of the facilities, located in the Los Cristianos Cultural Center, is a example of the government group investment roadmap, “In addition to a clear commitment to security in the municipality that has been applied since the beginning of the mandate.” The reopening of this office will reinforce the service in this important nucleus of Arona, the tourist epicenter of the municipality and the South region.
The Arona City Council Security Area has set out a progressive strategy that over the last year and a half has borne fruit with the incorporation of 31 agents, the first expansion of the workforce of this magnitude in more than 13 years; the renewal and expansion of the fleet, with 16 new vehicles, and the modernization of the equipment of the police force. The government also highlights the implementation of the El Fraile Security Office.
A commitment
The mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, highlights the «continuous and intense» work so that the Local Police of Arona «can work in the best possible conditions and with the most effective means, something that has a direct impact on the service we provide to the neighbors of our municipality ». The remodeling of the Local Police Office in Los Cristianos was not only a necessity, “but a commitment by this government group to reinforce the security of this important tourist center,” he explains.
Francisco Marichal, Security Councilor, chooses to underline that «we have not stopped moving forward to make Arona a municipality and a safe and reliable tourist destination, notably reinforcing the number of troops, the material means and meeting the needs of the Local Police ». The mayor concludes by announcing that “we will continue with that task.”
