The strong waves that affects the Tenerife municipality of Garachico It has forced the authorities to close the access to the maritime avenue during the afternoon of this Saturday. This was recently announced by the mayor of the town, Heriberto González, through his Facebook profile: “Garachico avenue is currently closed to traffic due to rising sea levels.”

The State Meteorological Agency had already activated the yellow notice (risk) due to adverse coastal phenomena in practically the entire Canary Islands.

As stated by the mayor to the newspaper Daute Digital, “it is expected that the road will reopen when it is getting dark and coinciding with low tide.” “Several waves have risen by the sports hall, but we believe that as soon as the tide goes down the waves will not rise again,” he adds.

Its about second episode of strong waves suffered by Garachico In recent weeks, since on December 24 the waves caused material damage, including several vehicles that were parked in the area despite the fact that the signs prohibited it.

NOTICE: Due to the cutting of the Garachico maritime avenue due to waves, we are operating in the interior of the town. Line 363 is experiencing some delays.
