SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife Roads Area will continue over the next week with the work to improve the Autopista del Sur (TF-1) in the areas of Chimiche, El Río, Las Maretas and Tajao, in the municipalities of Arico and Granadilla.
The insular counselor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, thanked the drivers for their prudence and caution and wanted to recall that the works “advance an average of one kilometer each week, improving day by day the safety of this important road in Tenerife.”
In addition, Enrique Arriaga stressed that the results “are already palpable and, despite still missing the final layer, the improvement in driving comfort has increased with the work carried out so far.”
Next week’s rehabilitation will affect the road only in the direction of Santa Cruz, in the section that includes junctions 49 (Chimiche / El Rio / Las Maretas) and 46 (Tajao / Complejo Ambiental). The improvement work will thus cover from kilometer 46.7 to 48.7.
Once the holidays are over, this week work will resume normality, extending from the night of this Sunday the 9th to the morning of Friday the 14th. They will take place during the night, from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. users are minimized by less fluid traffic during this period of time.
To maintain night traffic, Roads will set up different detours. From this Sunday until Wednesday night, only exit 49 will be closed. Therefore, those vehicles that circulate in the direction of the capital of Tenerife and seek to access the centers of Chimiche, El Río or Las Maretas will have to continue to the Tajao junction / Environmental Complex (46), to make a U-turn and return, heading south, to the destination area.
On the other hand, drivers who intend to join the highway from Las Maretas in the direction of Santa Cruz de Tenerife must drive south to the link of the Polígono Industrial de Granadilla (51), where they can make the U-turn and drive towards the North.
On the other hand, on the night of Thursday the 13th, the Tajao / Complejo Ambiental link will also be closed, so vehicles that, in the direction of Santa Cruz, seek to access one of the two affected links must continue until exit 42, from Villa de Arico and Abades, where you can make a U-turn to rejoin the road heading south and reach the desired locations.
In addition, those who from Tajao want to join in the direction of Santa Cruz, must carry out the same operation as those who leave Chimiche and must drive south to the Polígono Industrial de Granadilla, where they will make the change of direction.
These works are part of the TF-1 resurfacing plan that has been underway since last April and that includes an execution period of approximately fourteen months. In total, the works, carried out by SACYR, will include about 40 kilometers of the road between Adeje and Arico.
