The Tenerife City Council of La Laguna will invest 18 million euros in the next four years in a new plan to resurface and improve the municipality’s road network. This investment will be carried out through a road maintenance contract that the Works and Infrastructures area will put out to tender in this academic year, the City Council reported in a statement.
“From the City Council of La Laguna we continue with our commitment to improve the roads of the neighborhoods and towns of every municipality, attending to the demands of the citizens and following technical criteria to prioritize intervention in those streets that need it most,” he commented the mayor of the city, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez. “This new resurfacing plan will represent a very important investment to reinforce the safety of our road network and move towards universal accessibility, which are primary objectives of this government group.”
For the mayor, “the investment of 18 million in four years will translate into qualitative and quantitative improvements. Beyond resurfacing the roads, this new service will include actions of various kinds, such as, for example, the renewal of signage and the adaptation of sidewalks ”.
“We have several roads that require urgent intervention, due to their poor conditions and deterioration, and this is what the citizens are demanding of us,” said the Councilor for Works and Infrastructure, Josimar Hernández. “The idea is that the new contract for the next four-year period largely meets the needs of our road network, taking into account both neighborhood requests and the necessary technical evaluations, to continue providing and improving all roads in the municipality.”
The councilor has taken stock of the actions carried out in 2021 in terms of resurfacing. In total, there are 47 interventions, which represent 80,000 square meters of resurfacing, in all the districts of the municipality, “from the Northeast Region, through Taco, La Cuesta and the Center, with strategic interventions such as those carried out in El Ortigal , which presented a notable state of abandonment and which we continue to attend to ”.
Josimar Hernández explained that in 2021 3,021,683 euros were allocated to this chapter. Within this investment, the area plans to undertake at the beginning of this year the asphalting of the La Triciada-La Vega Road, the Real de Tejina Road, the Las Colmenas-Punta del Hidalgo Road, the Arrocha and Gillama streets, San Salvador-San Matías. , Avenida de La Libertad and Lomos de Asno.
