The Canary Islands are still under the effects of the sixth wave. The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has notified this Wednesday 5,098 new infections and nine deaths with covid, five men and four women, between 62 and 99 years old. Of the total, six people died in Gran Canaria and three in Tenerife, all were in hospital admission and had previous pathologies.
Active cases continue to increase (54,155), of which 60 are admitted to the ICU and 427 remain hospitalized. It is the first day in which hospitalizations fall in six days: 487 the total of admitted today compared to the 494 of yesterday Tuesday.
By islands, Tenerife adds 2,313 new infections and is the island with the most active: 28,660. Gran canaria detects 1,716 infections and has 17,781 assets; Fuerteventura registers 249 cases (2,715 assets); Lanzarote has 463 (3,160 assets); La Gomera has 50 new infections (173 active); La Palma 289 new cases (1,514 active); and El Hierro detects 18 cases (147).
To date, a total of 2,816,865 diagnostic tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 16,552 correspond to yesterday.
