The Governing Board of the Santa Cruz City Council learned yesterday the award of the contract for the maintenance, conservation and improvement of roads and public spaces, with a duration of 4 years for which it will allocate about 12 million euros. This is a file developed by the Public Services area, led by Guillermo Díaz Guerra, whose main novelty is that an important synergy is generated, since another good part of its execution “will be entrusted through the five districts, by what the management and the capacity to respond to the needs in the entire territory of the capital will be much more effective ”.
This contract, the largest of those awarded for this purpose in the recent history of Santa Cruz, includes all inspection, maintenance, conservation operations of all roads or public spaces or municipal management of the city, which according to the technical calculations carried out For the project, it affects 6,601,891 square meters, of which 4,162,561 correspond to asphalted areas and 2,439,330 to tiled areas or with other pavements. It includes works related to roads or carriageways, sidewalks, paths, pedestrians, tunnels, bridges, walks, stairways, slopes and paved areas in squares and parks, in this case only pedestrian areas. It is divided into a part of ordinary expense, which amounts to 7.5 million euros in four years, and another part for actions of an extraordinary nature, of 4.7 million euros.
But the Public Services area intends that this year at least another 64 million will be awarded corresponding to the other two large contracts it handles, such as those for electrical installations (40 million) and parks and gardens (24). “In electrical installations we have introduced improvements such as energy efficiency, with the installation of photovoltaic panels or the change of lights,” Díaz Guerra explained yesterday in the presentation of the budgets for his area. In the case of parks and gardens, “we greatly increased the budget because we have updated the municipal inventory of landscaped spaces in the city, which dated from 2011.”
Another investment in the area is the tender for the project that will allow the completion of the La Granja park running circuit. “At the moment we are waiting for the Advisory Council to respond to us about the termination of the contract with the successful bidder to bid again.” The work has a budget of 800,000 euros.
