The acquisition of lots to make parking lots in El Toscal is one of the objectives that the Heritage area of the Santa Cruz City Council has set for this 2022. This was advanced yesterday by the responsible councilor, Dámaso Arteaga, who detailed the budget that will handle this year and that reaches 3.5 million euros. In the case of the plots, the objective is to achieve them before the remodeling work on La Rosa street begins, which the mayor trusts can begin early next year. “At the moment, the project is in the insular area of Historical Heritage, as soon as we have the go-ahead we will be able to put out to tender the work and begin its execution. When that happens we will have to eliminate the parking lots. That is why we need to have options in the area, “said Arteaga. “With the acquisition of plots what we want is to provide a solution to the problem that already exists to park in the center, and that will be aggravated with the work of La Rosa” added the mayor.
Among the new actions that are incorporated into the area is that of adapting a building located in the Santos ravine, at the height of Diego Crossas street, to turn it into the future headquarters of the La Salud and Los Gladiolos Work Units. In addition, the interior design projects will be drawn up to adapt the General Antequera building, which will house all the services located in the Urban Planning Management, the latter building which in turn will be conditioned to become the headquarters of the Local Police.

All these actions are included in the Santa Cruz City Council Venue Plan, which also includes the drafting of a project to rehabilitate the San Andrés Infobox, and turn it into the headquarters of the Next Generation project management office, as well as the opening of the headquarters of the Anaga District on Andrómeda Street. The completion of the projects for the Masonic Temple and the Ireneo González building, the drafting of the rehabilitation of the Marqués de Villasegura building, and the second phase of the Palacio de Carta (the first one ends in May), for which 50,000 euros are available are also included in the action of the Arteaga area. “In addition, we are going to process the drafting of the Municipal Palace rehabilitation project, an intervention that aims to be comprehensive, including the frescoes in the Plenary Hall,” explained the mayor of Works.
Likewise, the façades of municipal buildings will be rehabilitated (350,000 euros) and the cleaning of the premises assigned to the citizen entities will continue. The registry cleaning of municipal buildings will also continue.
