SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 coordinated the resolution of 940 incidents during the New Year’s Eve night, which represents an increase of 3.4% compared to New Year’s Eve the previous year, where registered 909.
The Eastern Islands registered 517 incidents, between 9:00 p.m. on December 31 and 8:00 a.m. on January 1, while in the Western Islands there were 423. These figures represent a great variation with respect to the activity of a normal day in the operating rooms, where an average of 500 incidents are received in this time slot.
The highest activity tonight was related to the security sector, with 395 incidents and 42% of all incidents, followed by health, with 346, representing 36.8%. However, if we compare it with the previous year, there is a decrease in security incidents by 21.9% and an increase in toilets by 34.6%.
Regarding the demands for extinction and fires, in the 1-1-2 of the Canary Islands 73 incidents were registered, many of them related to fireworks, which represents a rise of 128.1%.
The rescues at sea should also be highlighted, with five activations directly related to assistance to migrant boats, compared to one the previous year.
In addition, the CECOES 1-1-2 registered 58 accidents or land rescues, 3.3% less, but some of them of relevance such as the three traffic accidents located in Lanzarote and Gran Canaria. In the first one, a 33-year-old man died after the vehicle in which he was driving overturned in Teguise, Lanzarote, while in Gran Canaria, SUC personnel had to transfer two people to hospital in serious condition, resulting in wounds after being run over on different roads in the municipalities of Gáldar and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
