SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The CC-PNC group has requested that an investigation be opened by the competent authorities as a result of the holding of a campsite on Mount Teide, in an area near the Llano de Ucanca, and, where appropriate, that the corresponding sanction to people who breached the rules of the National Park.
The nationalist formation has also asked to increase surveillance services in the Teide National Park in order to protect this natural space and avoid practices that endanger its conservation.
For CC-PNC it is necessary to provide the Teide National Park with the adequate human resources to develop the surveillance service and points out that in the last year personnel have been hired as informants, but without the capacity to identify or report the people who commit infractions, that is, “there are not enough guards to carry out the control work and that is the responsibility of the Cabildo.”
“We cannot allow small tents, umbrellas or even football to be installed on Mount Teide. On other occasions there have been graffiti and even barbecues and it is necessary that both the local population and the visitor know that the National Park del Teide is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and if they do not comply with the regulations, they will be sanctioned “, points out CC-PNC.
“The Cabildo has to be more diligent and provide the Teide National Park with sufficient means to carry out the surveillance work. We are talking about a space that receives some four million visits a year and that needs to be controlled at all times” .
