The Güímar City Council will have a budget of 17,384,997 euros for 2022 after the initial approval in the plenary session held yesterday afternoon. The Government group (PSOE-CC) took out accounts that increase 5.7% with respect to the current year.
In mayor, Gustavo Perez, stressed that it is a budget for “the time to attend to people”, prioritizing spending on social services, which increases by 156,000 euros to reach one million, as well as “trade and local product” that for the municipal councilor “will be a generator of employment.” Also noteworthy is the increase in the amounts for education and scholarships (144,500 euros), as well as 215,000 euros more for the cleaning service to total 1,800,000 euros, while waiting for the long-awaited contest of the new waste manager to come out in the municipality.
Similarly, the subsidies to cultural and sports groups are increasing, as well as the party chapter, which reaches almost half a million euros (484,929 euros). Gustavo Pérez praised the work of Intervention and the Councilor for Finance, Beatriz Perdomo (PSOE).
The opposition, only the PP was in person, blamed the lack of investment in the budget, as well as the two new additions of trustworthy personnel (Güímar could have up to seven, by now passing 20,000 inhabitants).
In the aforementioned plenary session, as this newspaper already advanced, the name of Alameda de los Guanches de la Virgen de El Socorro was approved, for the square that is right on the renowned Carla Antonelli street in that hamlet.
