The Council opens this Sunday, January 2, traditional craft fairs to promote sales in Reyes, the great relief for one of the sectors hardest hit by the pandemic. There are two venues for the event: Plaza del Príncipe, in Santa Cruz, and Plaza del Adelantado, in La Laguna. The proposal will run until the night of January 5 to 6. There will be 64 artisans from more than twenty trades who will exhibit their products in both spaces.
The celebration of these outdoor exhibitions, organized through the Insular Handicraft Company of Tenerife, will be accompanied by strict sanitary measures to guarantee the safety of both the artisans and the attending public. These include the signposting of a route to visit it that will facilitate the circulation of customers and the reduced capacity. Thus, in the event that in Tenerife it remains at alert level 3, it will be 50% and it must be reduced to 33%, in the event of reaching level 4. In addition, smoking, eating and drinking are prohibited within the enclosure.
The island councilor for Employment, Economic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, explains that for many artisans this is “a unique opportunity” to boost their activity and stresses that safety measures will be taken to guarantee the health of professionals and the public. . Baso explains that, for the second consecutive year, the participation of artisans in both events will be free. “The complicated situation that the sector has been experiencing since the pandemic began adds greater value, if possible, to this type of event,” says the counselor,
The Reyes Crafts Fair celebrates its 24th edition in the Plaza del Príncipe de Santa Cruz where forty professionals will participate. In the case of La Laguna, the Christmas Craft Market will celebrate its thirteenth initiative in the Plaza del Adelantado, where 31 artisans will meet. The hours of the two fairs, which will remain open until the night of January 5, will be from 11:00 to 22:00, with a small interval of one hour, from two to three in the afternoon, in which the stalls will remain closed.
