SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council proceeded this Thursday to sell the building that houses the Ministry of Education to the Government of the Canary Islands, which thus exercises its right to purchase said property and for which this municipality will enter 30.1 million euros , payable in the formula accepted by both parties.
As stated in the agreement, a first payment of 14,010,599.35 euros is paid and the fractioning and postponement of the remaining price is set in three annual payments (2022, 2023 and 2024) of 5,385,695.96 euros.
The consistory received the communication on November 30 from the Ministry of Finance, Budgets and European Affairs by which it exercised the right to purchase the office building and garages, located on Avenida de Buenos Aires de Santa Cruz from Tenerife.
The order states that the right to purchase option is exercised with effect from November 30, 2021, under the terms and conditions agreed in the lease.
In the same way and as a result of this purchase action, the termination of the payment of the rent of the lease is communicated, imputing to the payment of the sale price for which any amount is chosen that, eventually, will be paid for such concept, as of November 30, 2021.
The Vice President of the Government and Minister of Finance, Román Rodríguez, points out that with this operation the Executive “saves 3.5 million euros per year in leases, which can be used for other public investments, in addition to optimizing public spending, since in the period of useful life of the building, established in 50 years, this saving will have reached the 89 million euros “.
The Executive has exercised the purchase option established at the time in the lease, after more than 16 years in which the Autonomous Community has disposed of the building on a rental basis.
The general director of Heritage, José Julián Istúritz, stressed that with operations of this type “it is not only intended to reduce the operating costs of the administrative activity necessary for the provision of services, but also to optimize and move towards the sustainability of spending public”.
The building has a surface area of just over 27,000 square meters and houses various administrative services for the departments of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports; of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing; Finance, Budgets and European Affairs; and that of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, in whose facilities more than 650 public employees work.
