Los Realejos Town Hall, through its Department of Rural Development, directed by Alexis Hernandez (PP), has promoted during 2021 a budget of 50,400 euros for subsidies in support of the local primary sector, “which represents the largest investment made by this local administration to date towards this sector in order to offer different tools for the promotion and economic recovery in agricultural and livestock activities”.

ANDl Mayor of Los Realejos, Manuel Domínguez (PP), anticipates that “already the 2022 budgets will consolidate these amounts and An additional 5,000 euros will be added for a new line of grants in which work is being done to in turn promote the recovery of abandoned land, so that the amount in aid to the primary sector will rise to 55,400 euros next year ”.

“The conservation of the rural landscape of The Realejos goes through a determined commitment to maintain and promote agricultural productions, in turn conservative of local products of reference in the Canarian garden such as our old potatoes that this 2022 will be 400 years old on royal soil, our varieties of cereal, or different fruit trees that are easy to adapt to our conditions, such as avocado, which is in increasing expansion ”, says the mayor.

“For this they have been promoted, recovered, even increased some lines of aid,” he details. “In the specific case of the municipal initiative of planting subsidy for unemployed people, providing them with seeds and fruit trees of these and other varieties, 5,000 euros have been re-allocated in the annual call for aid ”, indicates the mayor.

“To this are added the 5,000 euros per year that are contributed as a novelty since last year to the Tenerife Cereal Association (ACETE) as a nominative subsidy to facilitate the collection of this product that dyes our fields with gold and where Los Realejos is a benchmark at the island level with almost 50% of the island’s production ”, he adds.

Alexis Hernandez cites that “in the same way, annual subsidies for the incorporation of modernization and energy efficiency projects in agricultural operations in Los Realejos have been maintained for an amount of 9,600 euros, to which this year the aid for the amount of 23,000 euros has been added to improvements in livestock farms ”.

In this sense, the councilor of Rural development, indicated that “this shows how in recent years we have also valued the part of the primary sector that had less institutional support, such as livestock, because we have gotten to know more closely and tried to meet the demands of those who dedicate themselves to this field in a professional way ”.

“That is why a second line of subsidies for royal livestock has also been consolidated for the second consecutive year, such as aid for animal feed, which Los Realejos Town Hall it has also risen to 7,800 euros, given that the demand has been growing after the experience of the previous year ”, warns Alexis Hernández.
