The Cabildo has launched Tenerife Market, a unique event for the sale, exhibition and revitalization of the handicraft sector. It’s about a showroom dedicated to disseminating and marketing the work and handmade products of 16 artisans on the island.
The event, organized by the area of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action and the Insular Handicraft Company, will remain open at the Aguere Cultural Space from December 23 to January 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The area counselor, Carmen Luz Baso, also reported on the possibility of acquiring artisan products through the virtual fair ‘Digitize you’ focused on the sale and promotion of products from Tenerife, through a collaboration between the Cajasiete entity and the IFTSA.
As he explained, “both initiatives seek to help take advantage of the rebound in consumption that usually occurs during the Christmas holidays to boost the activity of a sector that has been badly damaged by the economic crisis derived from the pandemic.”
Its development is part of the package of actions launched by the Island Corporation to strengthen entrepreneurship, consolidate the business fabric, promote local marketing and establish and develop new strategies for the dissemination and communication of companies in the artisan sector of the island of Cara to the Christmas holidays.
Market Tenerife-Artesanía combines signature crafts with the holding of talks given by local designers, tastings of Canarian products and other free activities aimed at both children and adults.
Specifically, this space offers a wide sample of different craft trades such as jewelry, weaving, doll making and leatherwork. Also in it you can buy paper and cardboard products, fashion, crochet, fabric decoration, soap and jewelry.
With regard to the Digitalizarte virtual fair, the counselor recalled that it is an initiative launched for the first time in 2020 and that it has continued this year in order to adapt the commercialization of the sector to the capacity and mobility restrictions that have generated the pandemic. Through the platform https://www.seseocanarias.com, purchases can be processed entirely digitally.
In addition, the artisans will have a service for the collection and delivery of products within the scope of the Canary Islands free of charge for customers.
