The continuity of level 3 in Tenerife facilitates the opening

The final resolution on the presence of the public or not at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López to witness the derby on January 2 between CD Tenerife and UD Las Palmas will be from Monday. At the moment, the continuity of alert level 3 on the neighboring island facilitates the opening of doors, although it is not yet guaranteed that its capacity can be completed – almost 23,000 -.

Various sources consulted by this means agree that “the most normal thing” is that the San Sebastián street site presents some capacity restriction as long as the trend of coronavirus infections continues to rise. Although they did not confirm the percentages, these could be between 50 and 75 percent.

In any case, it is a decision to be made by the Archipelago’s health authorities next week based on the situation at that time. Health, LaLiga and the Higher Sports Council, for their part, agreed to rule on the presence of the public in the stadiums also starting next Monday.

CD Tenerife, for now, continues with normal ticket sales as if the Heliodoro could register 100% of its capacity. At the moment, the only ones who have been able to withdraw tickets to witness the Canarian rivalry duel are the subscribers, who will not pay, but have a purchase preference for other people.

Monday is the day established by the blue and white entity for sale to the general public, which may withdraw a maximum of four tickets. However, everything could change depending on the decision adopted by the health authorities regarding the reduction of capacity of Rodríguez López in the face of a possible increase in infections.

Waiting

It should be noted that the supporters clubs and fans of UD Las Palmas are waiting for events. For the moment, uncertainty reigns. At first, Tenerife was going to provide some 700 tickets, more or less those that the yellow entity always requests for its followers. To this day, the presence of UD fans at Heliodoro is unknown.

The last time that Las Palmas was supported by its people in the field of the eternal rival was on September 7, 2019, when Pepe Mel’s team drew 0-0 against Tete. That day, the yellow fans displayed a banner with the slogan Thank you, the Canarian people for all your support, in reference to the fire that ravaged Gran Canaria that summer.

Two years and four months later, it is not clear if he will be able to return to his place in the Herradura stands or if the derby will be like last March: behind closed doors.
