The Canary Islands Government has approved the subscription of the extension of the cooperation agreements between the Autonomous Community and the island councils of El Hierro, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Gomera, Lanzarote, La Palma and Tenerife for the provision of services to people in a situation of dependency and, in general, to people under six years of age, elderly or with disabilities and the performance of actions in relation to the procedure for recognizing dependency and entitlement to benefits during the 2021-2022 period for a total amount that amounts to 179.7 million euros.
The Ministry of Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth, at the initiative of the General Directorate of Dependency and Disability, has processed with all the councils the subscription of the third addenda of modification and extension of the cooperation agreements, signed in 2018 and valid until December 31, 2022.
The contribution contemplated for the island of El Hierro for the 2021-2022 annuities is 2,564,655.69 euros; for the island of Fuerteventura, 2,750,843.77 euros; for Gran Canaria, 66,330,281.54 euros; for La Gomera, 2,454,274.56 euros; for La Palma, 17,464,292.7 euros; for Lanzarote, 10,290,259.17 euros and for Tenerife, 77,912,639.84 euros.
On the other hand, the Governing Council authorized the spending that is granted to the Canarian city councils to finance part of the activity related to the social services of primary and community care, the program of basic benefits of social services and support for the management of the Canary Islands Insertion Benefit Law, through advance processing for the year 2022, for an amount of 38,094,742 euros, which represents an increase of 15.7% compared to 2021 (a total of 6,010,944 euros more).
