The Electronic Notice Board of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, through the General Directorate of Livestock, has published the resolution by which direct aid is granted to the owners of livestock farms of goats, sheep, pigs, cattle , rabbit and poultry farm aimed at alleviating the difficult economic situation that the sector is going through as a result of the COVID health crisis.
These are funds valued at 7.6 million and that will benefit a total of 1,077 livestock producers with their holdings registered in the Canary Islands Livestock Farms Registry with an updated census in 2021.
The temporary suspension of all non-essential activities and the limitations to the performance of many others have caused a negative impact on the economic activity carried out by livestock farms, which has led to a significant reduction in the income of these farms, causing difficulties for continuity. of their business.
As of today and until December 29, applicants must fill out, sign and present a model of responsible declaration to obtain the extraordinary help that they have available at the electronic headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands, thus completing the file by the General Directorate of Livestock before the end of 2021. During the month of January 2022, the public company GMR will transfer the funds to each of the beneficiaries of these extraordinary aid.
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands, Alicia Vanoostende, stressed that the Canary Islands “is the autonomous community of Spain that grants the most economic amount to the livestock sector per Major Cattle Unit (UGM), given that while in other communities the The amount does not reach 70 euros per UGM, in the islands they exceed 100 euros “.
He also highlighted the importance of aid that “will improve the income of the sector after a year complicated by the pandemic and the effects of the increase in the price of animal feed.”
During 2020, the Ministry launched a temporary aid to farmers and milk producers (European and own funds) valued at 2.5 million euros, in addition to another subsidy of 318,470 euros for the marketing of lambs and kids, co-financed by the Government of Spain and the autonomous community.
