The National Police have arrested three people in Tenerife who were allegedly part of a drug trafficking network, and have intervened 6 kilos of cocaine, 12 of hashish, 147,000 euros in cash, vehicles and weapons, including a shotgun and a pistol tasser type.
This alleged network operated mainly in Santa Cruz and La Laguna, although “its tentacles extended to the entire island” of Tenerife, the Police said in a statement, which has baptized the operation as Operation Hook.
This criminal organization concealed its activity behind the screen of several apparently legal businesses that provided cover for the distribution of illegal substances throughout the island, the Police maintain.
The three detainees, whose ages range between 36 and 57 years and who are “known” in the police field, were characterized by their “high activity” on the island, although they were aware of the risk they ran and never stored large quantities of drugs.
After the arrests and with the pertinent judicial authorization, the Police carried out searches in three homes, four storage rooms and a commercial premises.
In these searches, six kilos of cocaine, twelve of hashish, 147,000 euros in cash, three cars, three motorcycles, a van, a sports boat and different weapons were seized, including a shotgun and a tasser pistol.
In addition, the investigators acted in the economic sphere of the detainees requesting the seizure of several checking accounts, financial assets and real estate located in the archipelago, presumably as a result of the criminal activity carried out.
The detainees, along with the intervened effects, the drugs and the report made for that purpose, were brought to justice.
The actions were carried out by the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit of the Provincial Police Station of the National Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
