SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Council of Administration of Social Housing and Infrastructures of the Canary Islands (Visocan) agreed on Monday the purchase of five more houses in the municipality of Tazacorte, in order to fulfill the commitment acquired to locate, adapt and make available to families affected by the volcanic eruption of 102 homes this Christmas.
According to Víctor González, managing director of Visocan, “the effort on the part of the Board of Directors and the Visocan staff is being immense and relentless in order to attend to the emergency housing needs of those affected by the eruption. We said that we would seek and adapt 100 homes for Christmas and we have fulfilled our commitment to the people of La Palma, which has only just begun. Now it is time to think about growing and rebuilding, and we are working on that “.
Previously, the purchase of 64 homes in the municipalities of Fuencaliente and Tazacorte had already been formalized, and the purchase of another 29 in the Montaña Tenisca area, in Los Llanos de Aridane, and that with this new acquisition, and together with 4 more, ceded by the Los Llanos City Council itself, they give the total figure of 102 floors.
These days these homes are already being delivered to the designated awardees, prior to a report from the special team of social workers that is deployed in La Palma to meet the requests of the evicted people and deal with the housing emergency through the single registry of affected launched several weeks ago.
These are homes of between 60 and 90 square meters, with 1, 2 and 3 bedrooms, with an installed kitchen, and where the rent is subsidized one hundred percent the first year and 90 percent, the second and third year . At the moment, 26 homes have already been awarded and the delivery process will continue over the next two weeks, with the tenants signing the contract and handing over the keys.
