The first vice president and counselor of Roads of the Tenerife Council, Enrique Arriaga (Cs), applauds that «the City Council of Los Realejos begins the works in the wall of La Montañeta in order to restore normal vehicle circulation in the area “, but warns that” the project to be carried out must take into account the two reports that the Island Council has sent to the City Council and which highlight the serious risk of collapse of the wall in the event that the slope consolidation is not carried out ». Arriaga issues a warning: “If the wall is not reinforced, it could collapse and cause serious damage to vehicles and pedestrians.”

The judgment issued by the Administrative Litigation Court Number 2 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which annulled the order of paralysis issued by the insular area of Roads regarding the execution of the replacement and containment work of the collapsed wall in the insular road TF-333, allows the City of Los Realejos to continue with the reconstruction of the wall that initially collapsed. But Arriaga recalls that “the situation of the wall has evolved in recent months, becoming more unstable and causing other landslides, for which stability reports were commissioned which concluded that the slope and the wall had a significant risk of collapse.”

To solve this risk of collapse, Arriaga assures that the Cabildo has been working since last April on a project of measures to reinforce and stabilize the slope and thus avoid this danger. And he adds that “this work had the consensus of both island and municipal technicians and the property, and would also allow the opening of this section to the TF-333”.

“If the wall is not reinforced, it could collapse and cause serious damage to vehicles and pedestrians.”

The Highways Minister emphasizes that, although the Island Corporation does not agree with the ruling issued by the Administrative Litigation Court Number 2 of Santa Cruz of Tenerife, relating to the execution of the replacement and containment work of the collapsed wall on the island road TF-333, has not resorted to it in order “not to hinder the process and prevent the solution from being extended even further.”

Enrique Arriaga placeholder image wait now that «Los Realejos Town Hall take into account the stability reports of the slope and the rest of the wall that is still standing when carrying out the action and thus the safety of vehicles and pedestrians can be guaranteed, since the initial execution order, endorsed by the sentence, it does not contemplate this new risk situation ”.

“In the order for the execution of the work, the property has been given one month to present the action that guarantees the stability and safety of the rest of the wall of the La Montaña road”

Laura Lima (PP) – Town Planning Councilor of Los Realejos

The Councilor for Urbanism of Los Realejos, Laura Lima (PP), responds to Arriaga that «in the order for the execution of the work, the property has been given a period of one month to present the action that guarantees the stability and safety of the rest of the wall of the road from The mountain». And in the event that they did not present it, the mayor Laura Lima advances that “we will rescue the project that the island council had agreed with the property.”
