The event was attended by Marco González, mayor of Puerto de la Cruz; Carolina Rodríguez, Councilor for Tourism Development of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council; David Pérez, CEO of Tenerife Tourism; Wolfgang Kiessling, president of Loro Parque; Christoph Kiessling, vice president of Loro Parque, and Cybell Kiessling, director of administration of the Porto Zoo. Animal care

«This new facility for ring-tailed lemurs is an example of our commitment to animal welfare and the continuous development of our company to ensure the quality for which we are known, “explained Wolfgang Kiessling, adding that the Imagine dolphin presentation is” a guarantee of well-being for animals in human care. ”

“Loro Parque is a park with a conscience that, while having fun, educates the new generations with its work,” said Marco González, who said he was proud to have in his municipality with an institution like Loro Parque and looking forward to the celebration in 2022 of its 50th anniversary.

The mayor of Porto described Loro Parque as “the best zoo in the world” and valued the importance of an initiative like Imagine, “which leaves the show part behind a little and focuses on raising awareness and educating future generations” regarding to the importance of preserving the environment, “mixing fun and education.”

“At a time as complicated as this, once again, and especially for the tourism sector, Loro Parque once again shows that it is a park with a conscience, which reinforces this position with Imagine. An initiative that helps keep Puerto de la Cruz on the map of the tourist with a conscience “, explained the president of Porto.

Regarding the new facility for lemurs, González remarked that “in case anyone still had any doubts regarding the affection with which Loro Parque cares for its animals, today we see the new facilities for lemurs, which They already had a splendid house and now it has one that is doubly splendid.

The bishop’s words

Bernardo Álvarez showed «everyone’s gratitude to the Kiessling family for this project that over the years It has not stopped improving, “and he wanted to acknowledge” the enormous effort that Loro Parque made to keep its animals with the facilities closed during the worst moments of the pandemic. The bishop appealed to society to take care of the planet, animals and plants, “since we are interdependent and we need each other.” He also asked everyone for responsibility “and head” to, in these times of covid-19, “take care of each other.”

During the event, those present were able to enjoy the new facility, whose design, in line with the philosophy of Loro Parque, is part of the search for continuous improvement of animal welfare. This new environment is ideal for this species as it has tall trees like those in open forests, horizontal trunks through which to move and jump, and rocks on the ground where they can rest and sunbathe.

in addition, the new Imagine dolphin presentation surprised all attendees with its high educational content and its ability to entertain visitors while providing “valuable knowledge about animals, their well-being and their situation in nature.”

The event coincided with the 49th anniversary of Loro Parque, which opened its doors in 1972 with only 25 people, 150 parrots and a space of 13,000 square meters. Since then until today, and after a trajectory of many challenges, Loro Parque has become one of the most respected zoological institutions in the world, both for its beauty, as well as for the excellence of its facilities and its absolute respect for nature and the animals.
