Neighbors around the abandoned and busy Iders building, in the heart of the tourist area of Cross port, warn of the risk existing in the area due to the fall of rubble both for the people who live inside it and for the passers-by and residents of Avenida Familia Betancourt and Molina. After years of neighborhood struggle to achieve the cleaning and disinfection of the property, which continues to be unsuccessful, people affected by the environment show EL DÍA their great concern about “the effects on the weakened structure of all the incidents that have occurred in recent months : three fires, winds and rains ».

«We are concerned because the naked eye can see many cracks in elements of the structure of the Iders building. We are not technical, but we fear that in a corner or balcony there may be a detachment that may cause a misfortune to pedestrians or residents of the area, “they warn.

These affected, among whom are presidents of several neighboring communities in the area, “desperately request the authorities or whoever is responsible” to act “urgently and for safety». And they recall that to all this unhealthy situation and risk of debris detachment “is added the insecurity generated throughout the environment by the squatters who reside in that building,” many with drug addiction problems, in absolutely unhealthy conditions, surrounded by garbage, insects, rodents and struts that try to support the weight of the cantilevers of the balconies.

They fear the negative effects of years of neglect, fires, rains and strong winds

Public Health technicians certified at the beginning of July the evident unhealthy situation of the Iders building, and local government (PSOE-ACP) He announced that he would commission the cleaning and disinfection of the property that same month. Five months later, the long-awaited cleaning does not arrive and the local government shields itself in the slowness of the administrative process, “with a request to the court and a request to the owners in between, so that the City Council can undertake the cleaning of this private property in a manner subsidiary ‘.

They ensure that with the naked eye “many cracks can be seen” in elements of the structure
