The City Council of Granadilla de Abona has launched two employment agreements this week that benefit a total of 82 families in the municipality and that represents an economic investment of more than 900,000 euros. On Wednesday the presentation of these projects took place by the mayor, José Domingo Regalado; the councilor of AEDL, Yanira González, and the councilor for Personnel, María Candelaria Rodríguez, in addition to the presence of the councilors of Social Services, Economy and Transport, María de la O Gaspar, Rubén García and Fredi Oramas, respectively.
The employability plans, financed through the Canary Islands Employment Service (SCE) and the City Council, contemplate, on the one hand, an extraordinary employment program (PEES) 2021/2022 that lasts for eight months, and on the other hand, a program for the regeneration of rural agricultural areas 2021, which will take place over three months. The total budget for the two initiatives is 900,538.2 euros, of which 754,526.47 correspond to the PEES and 146,011.73 to the second action. José Domingo Regalado argues that “they are important employment opportunities, as they are actions aimed at a group with difficulties in finding a job and which will allow them to qualify in a job-seeking sector.” In addition, he adds that “the City Council is committed to all possible alternatives that promote the maintenance of social policies and the welfare state, and that promote employment in the municipality, through agreements and plans through subsidies with other administrations” .
For his part, Yanira González points out that “it is a priority for this Government to help generate employment and improve the situation of many families, so this action is aimed at the most vulnerable people in the municipality who have been unemployed for a long time.”
Regarding the PEES, the objective is the labor integration of a group of people with difficulties of labor insertion, allowing them to adopt knowledge related to an essential service such as urban maintenance and carrying out small actions to beautify urban spaces, in addition to improving the aesthetics of the environment, the standard of living and attracting more consumers that promote the commercial and tourist development of Granadilla de Abona.
