SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Highways Area, has awarded the works to improve road safety on the TF-13 as it passes through the municipality of Tegueste, in the surroundings of the Los Laureles Sports City, the IES Tegueste and the facilities of the Funcasor Foundation.
The first vice president and counselor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, indicated that an important remodeling will be carried out in this section with the construction of a landscaped median, which prevents vehicles from making illegal maneuvers, as well as sidewalks and sidings for school buses, and traffic lights will be placed to regulate the traffic of pedestrians and vehicles.
The counselor added that for years “the neighbors and the educational community have demanded a solution to the circulation in this conflictive area, and with this action we respond to the demand. It is a fundamental artery for the municipalities of Tegueste and La Laguna, a road with a high density of traffic, both pedestrian and road traffic, through which more than 18,000 cars circulate daily “.
The General Directorate of Traffic, already in 2017, considered that the area where the works will be carried out is a black point on the island’s roads; a situation that is to be reversed with this intervention, which has a budget of 442,497 euros.
The insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, announced that the works will begin in January and it is estimated that they will be completed in mid-2022. “The reorganization and regularization of this point of the TF-13 responds to a historical demand for the residents of Tegueste, the safety and service capacity of the highway is improved and the risk of accidents and run over is reduced, “he said.
