On the night of December 3, the Local Police of El Rosario were informed of the fall of large rocks in an area of Varadero. The landslide affected two house-caves, a common type of housing in this coastal nucleus, built on the edge of the ravine in front of the area known as the Ucelay pool, without regretting personal injury.
After inspection of the area by municipal officials, the eviction of the affected buildings was decreed, carrying out their seal to prevent the passage for security reasons. Likewise, the Municipal Emergency Plan (PEMU) was activated.
The City Council of El Rosario states that “after carrying out a technical assessment and because the buildings are in a protected easement area and next to the riverbed, the competent bodies must be, both the Government of the Canary Islands and the Insular Council of Waters of Tenerife (Ciatf), which determines the following actions to be carried out, as well as preparing the studies that are necessary to guarantee stability in the area ”.
An affected
According to the Consistory, there is only one affected person registered in El Rosario and with habitual residence in the damaged area. For this reason, Acción Social has already communicated the steps to follow to process an aid for the temporary rental of a home.
However, from platform 29 E Evictions it is indicated that there are two families evicted by the El Rosario City Council, not by a court, without having received any help to relocate to another location, while they are residing in the homes of some friends.
According to the platform, these are the two families that have their only home there, while the rest are second homes and, therefore, do not have the right to a housing alternative.
