The Santa Cruz City Council has completed the installation of the traditional Bethlehem portal in the Plaza de la Candelaria. This year the classic stamp is recovered, “which recreates the Birth of a lifetime,” explained the mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, in addition to wishing “that it is a gift for those who visit it in the coming days.”
The opening ceremony featured the traditional lighting by the councilor, who was accompanied by the party councilor, Alfonso Cabello, and the first deputy mayor and councilor of the Centro-Ifara district, Guillermo Díaz Guerra.
The print recreates a traditional representation, in the Neapolitan style, featuring the sculptures of Mary and Joseph, surrounded by the ox and the mule. The birth will be completed as of December 25, on the Christmas holiday, with the incorporation of the image of the Child Jesus. A portal next to which, a few meters away, is located the Camping for a decent home, which continues its protest in Plaza Candelaria. A situation that those affected will maintain, at least, until they know the result of the two meetings that will be held next week. The first with the CEO of Visocan, which will also be attended by the mayor, and the second with the president of the Fecam Housing Commission, together with Bermúdez.
Regarding the Santa Cruz portal this year, the intensity of the color plays a fundamental role, in addition to giving a special role to one of the main figures of the birth, the Virgin Mary, whose brightly colored clothing allows it to stand out from the rest of the set. .
For yet another year, the birth will feature the installation of piped music on a continuous basis, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Two royal mailboxes have also been installed.
