SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Hotel Escuela Rural Casa de Los Herrera de La Gomera, belonging to Hoteles Escuela de Canarias (Hecansa), a center attached to the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, has trained 219 people in its first year of operation in the 21 specialization courses that have been launched in this training center that opened its doors on December 4, 2021.
More than a dozen specialized professionals have taught courses that have focused on different subjects related to hospitality and tourism with special attention to the reality and needs of this sector on the island of La Gomera.
Specifically, the activities, which have been distributed throughout the year, have addressed issues related to products such as cheese or wine, with special attention to the varieties of La Gomera; cost control and improvement of the gastronomic experience; food safety and environmental management; the cocktail bar; the most advanced culinary techniques; the service in the room; or the opportunities of digitization and training for hotel establishments, informs the Ministry in a note.
Among the professionals who have taught each of the training courses there have been chefs distinguished with a Michelin star, such as Ferrán Adriá or Miguel Navarro; winemakers such as Alberto González Plasencia; the cocktail specialist Óscar Lafuente; the gastronomic consultant Ana Belén González or the digitization specialist, consult Sanpani, Cristina Escudero.
The list is completed by Dr. Javier Aranceta; the chefs José González González, José Miguel Barrera and Antonio García Lozano; the ham cutting specialist Abrahan Barroso; the fermentation expert Nerea Zorokiain and the restaurant director Roberto Castro Gutiérrez.
The Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla, points out that “the training offer of Hecansa has as its main objective to support the hospitality and tourism sectors, promote Canarian talent and bring training to all people who want to keep progressing and learning “.
To the courses that will continue to be developed next year at the Casa de los Herrera Rural School Hotel are added the Dual Professional Training programs that are taught in the rest of the Hecansa centers and which are Food and Beverage Management, Hotel Management , Directorate of Cuisine and Gastronomy.
In addition, Hecansa, in its commitment to promoting Canarian talent in the hospitality and tourism sectors, has launched its own scholarship service aimed at solving any obstacle arising from the current economic situation, so that all people who want to continue or start training can do so.
