More than five years have passed since all the political forces of the Puerto de la Cruz City Council (PP, CC, PSOE and Portuense Citizen Assembly) signed the agreement that defined the ‘roadmap’ to start the Maritime Park and Port project Fishing, Sports, Commercial and Tourist raised by the Cabildo.

A roadmap that quickly turned when, according to the mayor, Marco González, “CC and PP -then in the local government- took away the competences of passenger transport by approving an additional provision that reduced the infrastructure to another category that did not I contemplated it ”.

A long time has passed since then and this infrastructure, which many consider vital not only for Puerto de la Cruz but for the North of the Island, remains stranded. “The city has to lead the project, not be the supporting actor invited to a chapter of a complete series,” says González, who believes that the public “is so tired of the partisan use of large projects that I will speak less and do more” . For this reason, he adds, “there are things I am not talking about.”

The president does not want to say anything “that he cannot guarantee” and “in order not to make a fool of ourselves, either politically or personally, we are going to have to wait for the environmental impact study by the Government of the Canary Islands, which is the procedure we are in”.

In October, the two opposition forces in the Consistory, PP and CC, requested a full monograph that was denied by the government group (PSOE-ACP) and immediately accused the mayor of refusing to speak about this matter, which maintains “a dark ”, and about which they have not received information for more than two years.

“I do not refuse to talk about the dock but to say anything that I cannot guarantee. Furthermore, they left in 2019 and did nothing either, “he adds.

The Portuense councilor “focuses on reality” that goes through the technical meetings that have been held with the Government of the Canary Islands both from the Urban Planning and the Treasury areas to solve problems and “seek the tools that allow recovering the competences of the field. autonomic in this project ”.
