Will there be PIT this year in Tenerife?

The evolution of the pandemic of coronavirus keeps some of the traditional Tenerife Christmas celebrations. The party programs in different municipalities have undergone changes and in some cases certain celebrations are ruled out.

If there is a typical activity on the Island for this time, it is the celebration of the Tenerife Children’s Park (PIT), which takes place in the Fairgrounds of the capital. Will it be possible to do it again this year? The Tenerife Council he sees it as “very unlikely.”

This has been indicated by the president of the island corporation, Pedro Martin, who alludes to epidemiological conditions of the Island and although it assures that it waits until “last minute” to see if it could be organized.

In a press conference held during a recess during the meeting he holds with the island’s mayors, he pointed out that the PIT is meeting a large “crowd” of people and in a closed space – Fairground – and also with a public, of child age, more “difficult to control” due to their socialization needs and that is not vaccinated.

In addition, he has pointed out that they are the group with the highest incidence of the Covid-19 In recent weeks, “it is true” that in many cases they are asymptomatic or with mild affection, but he understands that an event of these characteristics could generate “a situation of high risk” that an administration should avoid.
