On December 18, David will arrive at Los Gigantes, put on his tennis shoes, take a deep breath and start a solidarity race of no more or less than 148 kilometers. He will do it for the people who need it most in Añaza, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, just when some endearing dates arrive, but in which, also, inequality becomes too evident.
“I think I will cover the distance between the south of Tenerife and Añaza in 24 or 28 hours,” he assures calmly, while many of us see him with eyes of surprise. His intention is to be able to collect basic food for the most needy families of Añaza, in collaboration with the AAVV March 8, which is always linked and does not hesitate to participate in solidarity initiatives: “We have not set a specific objective, the True, we just want people to see that what may seem unimportant, like a liter of milk or a pack of chickpeas is very important to many people. “
This idea arises from David Ledesma and, practically, he has moved alone to make it a reality, not having received a single public support: “I have tried to contact several councilors on this type of challenge, but either I have not been able to or They have said ‘we already talked’, but the reality is that they do not answer me ”.

For this reason, he chose to seek private collaborations, especially when it came to finding places that would receive non-perishable food: “The pharmacy on the Los Cristianos dock, the 360 Training Center gyms, Hercules, North Trail or Fight Club and the CC Carrefour Añaza have been offered so that people can leave their food there. While Interbanderas will give me the clothes I will wear and Aqualia, the water from the aid stations ”.
But David, who started with these kinds of challenges in 2019, will not be alone. It never is. His wife (Yurena) accompanies him in each control step, she is the one who best understands what he does, something that can be crazy for many people: “She does not understand racing, she does not know anything about this subject, but she is always there accompanying, supporting and helping. Without her, and without my daughters, Irene and Adriana, it would not be possible. I can only thank you ”.
