Since yesterday, the water of La Guancha can be consumed again by the entire population over eight years of age. After the corresponding analyzes, the General Directorate of Public Health of the Government of the Canary Islands informed the City Council that the restriction of consumption and use of public water is maintained only in the population under eight years of age, when verifying that fluoride levels have been corrected, which was the only parameter that was not met.
Mayor Antonio Hernández pointed out that “it has been a complex situation and we are finally recovering normalcy and we can tell all the Guancheros that the water we offer is again treated water in the plant in its entirety.” In this sense, it also hopes that the next analyzes that have been ordered will confirm that the fluoride values (must be below 1.5 mg / l) reach the levels established by Public Health so that children under eight years of age can also ingest the tap water.
