A score of tents located in the Plaza del Adelantado, in the town of La Laguna, they want to make visible and recognize the social work carried out by many volunteers through different entities in the municipality, within the framework of a Solidarity Market with which they also want to commemorate the International Volunteer Day, which is held tomorrow. In addition, this edition has a campaign to support those affected by the eruption on La Palma.

“It is an opportunity to celebrate the work carried out by volunteer organizations in the municipality, who work in many different areas and who have collectively decided to allocate part of the funds raised for La Palma,” explained the councilor for Social Welfare of La Laguna yesterday , Rubens Ascanio.
Thus, entities such as the Red Cross, the Tenerife Association of Rheumatic Patients (Aster), the Association for the social and labor inclusion of people with different intellectual capacities (Asinladi), the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Association (Afiten) or the Small Canary Foundation Brave are some of those present in this space, among many others.

In addition, the Market has a solidarity tent for the sale of T-shirts and bananas, proceeds that will go to those affected by the eruption on La Palma, and that yesterday was a success of assistance and a clear example of the desire to help the Beautiful island.

“A ton and a half that will be sold at a donation price of one euro per kilo, to support the families that need it most on La Palma. We have people waiting for bananas since the morning ”, Ascanio pointed out. The Solidarity Market will remain open today, its last day, from 10:00 to 20:00. “It is an opportunity to learn how to join the solidarity causes that exist in La Laguna,” emphasized the mayor.

Ascanio was accompanied by the Councilor for Commerce, María José Roca, since the Market has also been part of the activities for the White Night. “Despite the inclement weather and the changes we have had to make on the fly, we all agree that the week of the White Night is being a success,” said the mayor.
