
The Council of Tenerife, through the Mobility Area, will rehabilitate, in the middle of this month of December, the firm of the TF-5 bus lane, for which has already awarded the work for a total amount of 37,992.85 euros. The works will last two days, and, as explained by the Minister of Mobility, Enrique Arriaga, “with these, the potholes and cracks in the bus lane surface are eliminated and which are a nuisance for users.”
“The Mobility Area works to make public transport on the Island more comfortable, faster and more attractive, in order to make it an alternative to the private vehicle due to punctuality and frequency. For this reason, we are working to expand the kilometers of bus lanes that exist on the Island ”, Arriaga pointed out in this regard.
For his part, the insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, explained that every day an average of 2,000 buses circulate through this preferential access lane for public transport to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, carrying about 65,000 passengers, in addition to the service. of taxis.
Bidding
Likewise, José Alberto León recalled that the bus lane project between the Hospital Universitario de Canarias (HUC) and Las Chumberas, in the municipality of La Laguna, is in the bidding phase, with which the current branch and the highway will be redesigned. service that currently connects the HUC with the Guajara university campus, the TF-2 connection and the shopping centers located in Las Chumberas.
This infrastructure prevents buses from being affected by the intense traffic that exists at certain times in an upward direction.
