A’Gara and the PP demand that Roque Exposito resign and hand over the act of councilor in Garachico

Roque Exposito, one of the three councilors that the alliance between the Garachiquense Group (A’Gara) and the Popular Party achieved in the last municipal elections in Garachico, happened this Wednesday, December 1, 2021, to become an unaffiliated mayor who, incidentally, breaks the Popular Municipal Group and condemns his two former colleagues, Alicia Dorta and Evelio Luis, to join the Mixed Group. Both A’Gara and the PP demand that Exposito resign and deliver the act of councilor.

A’Gara and the PP of Tenerife They demand that you deliver your certificate to the Garachico Town Hall «for personal consistency and respect for other colleagues, taking into account that for some time now he has not exercised his functions as mayor, those for which the people voted him as a member of this coalition of parties, in addition to not fulfilling his obligations as secretary and spokesperson for A’Gara » .

Both formations state that «we have always respected freedom of expression of each of the members of our parties, but any councilor who at a certain moment is not identified with the initials of A’Gara or the initials of the PP, either by ideology or by synergies, has the power and autonomy to leave the group and the party. In a joint statement, the two parties indicate that «Roque Exposito He is a councilor for the Garachico City Council because he belonged to a candidacy of A’Gara to which the Popular Party gave its acronym “so that they could present the candidacy in May 2019. In those elections, the PP-A’Gara won three councilors thanks to his 848 votes, 28.38% of the total.

Roque Exposito The day

«Consistency should now rule in the way of acting of Roque Exposito and he should deliver his act of councilor, since the citizens of Garachico did not vote for him, but instead voted for A’Gara, “they emphasize. It is expected that in a future meeting of the executive of this Garachiquense formation, the resignation letter presented by Roque Expósito as general secretary will be taken into account, but also “he will be invited to deliver his act of councilor so that the list can be run and A colleague can enter who can defend the interests of the more than 800 residents of Garachico who placed their trust in the team of A’Gara and in the political agreement reached with the PP in the last elections.

EL DÍA spoke on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 with Roque Exposito, after the plenary session that certified his status as a non-attached mayor, and the councilor stressed that he does not plan to leave the municipal Corporation. He blames his departure for “internal communication problems” with his party colleagues and the failure to comply with decisions, supposedly consensual, such as the unchecking of the three members of the Popular Municipal Group of the initials of the PP.

Exposito recognizes that he has not been able to fulfill one hundred percent of the functions as councilor in recent months “because of job incompatibility“, But he defends his work in the Corporation and assures that he intends to continue acting as a representative of his neighbors until the end of the term,” with representation in all the information commissions. ”

«I will continue not to turn my back on all the people who believed in me who continue to believe in me. I will continue with my work of oversight of the government group from the opposition», He announces.

Regarding the origin of this internal crisis, Exposito says that “the president of A’Gara, Ramon MirandaLet’s say he showed me the door to leave in the middle of July and I left the group of WhatsApp of the party, but not the formation. A’Gara resumed his activity and since then no one in the party has counted on me. Nothing was officially communicated to me, nor was I asked about my positions in plenary sessions and commissions. In October, seeing that things were as they were, I decided to resign as Secretary General of A’Gara in October and sent a burofax to Miranda’s home. He did not answer me and for that reason I decide to present my resignation to continue in the Municipal Group of the PP, because it was a farce. They also presented briefs to the plenary to replace me in the spokesperson, without communicating anything to me, and withdraw me from all the informative commissions.

Exposito is surprised that the PP asks him to return the record because “his role in this process has been testimonial, let’s say they neither prick nor cut. We went with its initials to the elections out of necessity and not out of conviction, or because we shared ideals ».
