SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec. 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Mobility Area, will rehabilitate, in mid-December, the firm of the TF-5 bus lane, for which it has already awarded the work for an amount of 37,992.85 euros.
The works will be completed in two days and the Minister of Mobility, Enrique Arriaga, explains that “with these works the potholes and cracks in the bus lane surface are eliminated and that they are a nuisance for users.”
From the Mobility Area, he points out in a note, “we are working to make public transport on the island more comfortable, faster and more attractive, in order to make it an alternative to the private vehicle due to punctuality and frequency, therefore, we work to expand the kilometers of bus lanes that exist on the island “.
The insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, details that every day an average of 2,000 buses circulate through this preferential access lane for public transport to Santa Cruz that transport about 65,000 passengers, in addition to the taxi service.
León also recalls that the bus lane project between the Hospital Universitario de Canarias (HUC) and Las Chumberas, in the municipality of La Laguna, with which the current branch and the service road that currently connects, will be redesigned. the HUC with the Guajara university campus, the TF-2 connection and the Las Chumberas shopping centers.
This infrastructure prevents buses from being affected by the intense traffic that exists at certain times in an upward direction.
