The three parties that make up the opposition in the La Orotava City Council (PSOE, Assembly and PP) voted yesterday against the budget proposed by the CC government group, which asserted its vast absolute majority to carry out alone accounts of 46.5 million euros, the largest in local history. After years of certain consensus, especially with the PP, in yesterday’s session, popular, socialists and representatives of the Assembly for La Orotava showed their rejection of a budget that grows 2.5% compared to 2021.
The PSOE considers that the accounts presented “are corseted, with little room for maneuver, far from a much more dynamic and open concept in accordance with current times,” according to the mayor Víctor Luis. In his argumentation, he emphasizes that “investment is subject to almost what is essential, despite having increased significantly.”
“The opposition is only allowed to participate in the initial part, its approval, but not in its subsequent execution, so it always acquires a very partisan and electoralist look on the part of CC”, warns Víctor Luis. The Socialists demand from CC a vision with more medium and long-term objectives: «With more with 46.5 million euros, at least we must consider allocating a part, although initially it is small, to point to the future in aspects that not only have to do with the day to day ».
