The Carnival stage goes out to tender again, 30% more expensive

The Governing Council of the Autonomous Organization of Festivities and Recreational Activities (Oafar), convened yesterday in an extraordinary and urgent way, approved to tender, for the third time, the contract to build the Carnival 2022 stage, after the two previous occasions (tender ordinary and negotiated without advertising) will be void. This new contest updates the prices to the month of December, which means, as explained by the Party Councilor, Alfonso Cabello, adding 45,000 euros to the original contract, going from about 150,000 euros to more than 190,000, or what is the same, a 30% increase. “In the last contest, to which two companies applied, one offered 199,000 euros and the other slightly more than 200,000 euros, prices that were above those we had set and that is why we had to declare it void. What we have done now is to bring it to 196,000 euros, without IGIC, so the tender will be around 200,000 euros, from what we understand, that at least those two companies will opt for its construction, “he said.

This modification in prices, as defended by Cabello, is supported by a report that analyzes the evolution of prices that affect this contest in the last year. “The problem we have had is the rise in prices so important that they have had two variables. One is transport, with container costs that have risen 214% in the last 10 months. The other variable is the increase in the price of the main raw material, which in this case is wood, which in the last 12 months has increased by 79% ”, explained the mayor.

The maximum deadline for the delivery of the projects will be this Friday, that is, the companies will have three days, and Fiestas want to award that same day.
