«The budget of Canary Islands for next year is the best for Tenerife». This was pointed out yesterday by Pedro Martín, president of the Tenerife Council and leader of the Tenerife Socialists, and Nira Fierro, Secretary of Organization of the PSOE of the Canary Islands, on the item of 213 million euros that the regional accounts allocate to the Island. Martín emphasized in a press conference that “despite the large investment for highways, the blockade of the opposition prevents the start-up of new projects.”

The island president highlighted the more than 76 million euros allocated to roads in the budget project for Tenerife, “An amount to which the Cabildo investment will be added.” “In this mandate we will continue to show that road works are our commitment,” he clarified. In this point, Pedro Martin announced the beginning in December of the work of the footbridge of Padre Anchieta by the Cabildo de Tenerife, “which joins the rest of the works already underway, such as the resurfacing of both highways, which have an investment of more than 25 million euros.”

Martín highlighted “the coordination” between the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo de Tenerife, which “carries out a investment effort in areas as important as Health, Education or Social Care ». “This harmony is a guarantee that this legislature will allow the materialization of initiatives and demands that have not been fulfilled for decades by those who today criticize the insular and autonomous management.”

Nira Fierro, Secretary of Organization, points out that “the defaults of the Canary Coalition” are resolved

Nira Fierro detailed that the Canary Islands budget project by 2022 it represents “a unique opportunity for Tenerife to build and advance in all those aspects that, during the long years of the Canary Coalition government, were the object of non-compliance, abandonment and citizen frustration.”

The recently appointed Secretary of Organization of the Canarian PSOE recalled that the PSOE «has political representation in all the institutions of the Island and that makes it possible to give a more efficient and effective response to citizens». He described as “brave and clear” the commitment of the pact of flowers (PSOE, Sí Podemos Canarias, Nueva Canarias and ASG) that the Canary Government directs “for infrastructure in the field of roads, health, education and hydraulic works.” In addition, he guaranteed “the party’s commitment to expanding the hospitals in the north and south of Tenerife.”

Fierro and Martín made these demonstrations at a press conference together with the rest of the regional deputies for Tenerife and the mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito, who joined the appearance as a representative of socialist municipalism. Mari Brito assured that “hand in hand with the PSOE we are building our present and future” and stressed that “all municipalities are working to solve historical problems like discharges into the sea ». On the other hand, he praised the implementation of “environmental sustainability practices” that will promote “more sustainable tourism and generate greater wealth.”
