Trasmediterranean Arms Shipping Company offer something more than 14,000 seats a day through 12 roundtrip departures between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and vice versa, thanks to the capacity of its latest generation catamarans Volcán de Tagoro and Volcán de Taidía.
Specifically, the new fast ferries of Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea make the crossing in 100 minutes and offer 12 daily round-trip departures from Monday to Friday (at 6:00 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.), as well as eight Departures on Saturdays and Sundays (8:30 am, 11:00 am, 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm).
In this way, according to the Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea press release, a little more than 80,500 seats and 4,300 vehicles are offered weekly between the two Canary Islands capitals whose purpose is to offer a service “of excellence and to enhance the ‘sea bridge’ and connections inter-island “.
The Volcán de Tagoro and Volcán de Taidía catamarans have capacity for 1,184 passengers, of which 155 are in Premium class and 16 crew members, as well as a garage on two decks for 215 cars and 595 linear meters for ro-ro cargo.
These fast ferries of 10,870 gross tons and 1,000 deadweight tons are 111 meters long and maintain a service speed of 36 knots powered by four engines that power the same number of water jets. These are ships with performance enhancements including higher speed, lower fuel consumption and better stability.
