SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 26 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The PSOE of the Canary Islands has celebrated the approval of the General State Budgets (PGE) for 2022, which it has defined as “the best in history for the Islands”, and has condemned the “useless victimhood” of the Canary Coalition.
This has been stated in a joint press conference held in which the Secretary for the Organization of the Canarian Socialists, Nira Fierro, the deputies Tamara Raya and Luc André Diouf and the regional senator Santiago Pérez have appeared.
They all agreed that they are accounts based “on dialogue and consensus between governments” and that “they have nothing to do with the victimhood proposed by the Canary Islands Coalition, which” despite defining itself as a progressive nationalist organization, is systematically integrated into the bloc of rejection of the extreme right, even in voting as important as the general accounts “.” Reaching out is achieved more than shouting and slamming doors, “they affirmed.
In this sense, they have pointed out that the new accounts contemplate more investment, new resources and “strict” compliance with the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF), and added that they will serve to take advantage of the funds from Europe and to face the economic recovery and the necessary social rescue after the health crisis.
“The Government’s effort to transfer the will for dialogue and cooperation with all the autonomous communities has allowed the approval of the state budgets for 2022”, highlighted Tamara Raya, who stressed that in the last four years of Pedro Sánchez’s government “there have been 53% more investment for the Canary Islands than in the last four years of the Government of Mariano Rajoy “.
The deputy and coordinator of the representation of the Canarian socialists in Congress has stated that these budgets “respect investments in roads, tourist infrastructures, passenger transport, irrigation systems and freight transport.”
For his part, Santiago Pérez has pointed out that they are “typical budgets for a progressive response to a crisis, with 59.8% of budgetary spending destined for social purposes; to strengthen the great instruments of the Welfare State.”
Pérez has remarked that the most important thing about these accounts is that they are supported by the parliamentary majority but, above all, “by the majority of Spanish and Canarian society.” Thus, he has insisted that they respond to the needs of the Canary Islands and take into account the peculiarities of the insularity, through investments in transport, roads or redefinition of the economic model to make it more sustainable.
Nira Fierro has valued the importance of the approval of these accounts, which “have been worked from dialogue and consensus”, turning them into “good budgets for Spain and the Canary Islands”.
Fierro has also criticized CC’s attitude during the voting, which “has placed itself alongside the extreme right”, while insisting that they are “the best budgets than those of 2018 and CC and, instead of studying them, they presented an amendment to the whole even before they were presented. “
Tamara Raya, for her part, has indicated that voting against these budgets “is to do so against European funds.” Likewise, he stated that a tragic and dramatic situation such as the one that the island of La Palma is experiencing cannot be used as an excuse for not supporting a good budget for the Canary Islands.
“The attitude of those who try to use this tragic situation in a partisan way is irresponsible,” said Raya, who assured that the state government “will not spare any resources to rebuild the island.”
