“The state of many infrastructures, buildings and municipal endowments is deficient and they are a risk for citizens”. This has been stated by the spokesperson for Ciudadanos (Cs) in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Matilde Zambudio, who has specified that “a clear example is what happened on the San Andrés bridge, which had to be closed and rehabilitated before the risk that it posed for the people who walked through it daily ”, due to“ the constant falling of rubble and other internal defects ”.

Zambudio stated that “the list of municipal facilities, buildings and infrastructures in poor condition is immense.” In this regard, he pointed out that “in Anaga we find several examples, such as the aforementioned San Andrés bridge, and also the Roque de las Bodegas dock, which is at risk of collapse.” He also recalled that “some years ago rubble fell on the Galcerán bridge, forcing the city council to hire an emergency to act on the sanitation of this infrastructure.”

“The state of the municipality’s infrastructures is unknown”, since “usually, the city council acts when a risk occurs”, that is, “they act a posteriori, once the danger has been caused in the public thoroughfare, and this supposes an unnecessary exposure of the integrity of the people ”, declared the liberal spokesperson.

In this sense, it has recalled that the conservation of real estate is an obligation that owners have regarding the maintenance of land, constructions, buildings or facilities according to legal regulations, to avoid risks, fires, damages, damages to third parties or the general interest, of an environmental nature, guarantee public safety or health and prevent contamination of the soil, water or air and undue polluting emissions in other goods.

Therefore, in today’s plenary session, Matilde Zambudio will propose that “periodic inspections of buildings, facilities and municipal buildings be carried out”, So what “Those who are in poor condition are immediately rehabilitated in order to avoid dire situations and unnecessary risks”.
